Welcome to Wilder

Principal Curt Montgomery

Welcome to Wilder Intermediate School.  Our mission is to teach as if each child were our own.  We use state standards to guide our instruction, best practices as our instruction, and constant monitoring of student achievement to ensure maximum growth for every child.  This is done in a caring environment where students learn to treat each other with respect and to accept responsibility for their own learning and actions.  All of us (students, teachers, and support staff) are here to learn. Wilder Warriors serve as tremendous examples of scholars and citizens.  Please explore our website at any time and feel free to schedule an appointment to explore our school.

Wilder Highlights

WELCOME TO FOURTH GRADE NEWS

We’re very excited to be working with your child this year!  We know that 4th grade will be a new challenge, but we have many activities planned to help make this transition successful.  This year your child will have 3 different teachers.  He/She will have Mrs. Dingledine for Science, Mrs. Bostick for Math, and either Mrs. Sukel or Mr. Amlin for Language Arts and Social Studies.  Many students will also work with our intervention specialist, Mrs. Monroe, and our enrichment specialist, Mrs. Person.

Things to Look For:

*Student Handbook – Your child has been given a Student Handbook and it can also be accessed on our school website.  Please be sure to read this thoroughly with your child.  Wilder has 4 core values: Respect, Responsibility, Restraint, and Recognizing the Rights and Property of others.  These are very important to your child’s success at our school.  Please also become familiar with our Homework Policy.  We have a program designed so that your child never gets behind more than 2 assignments.  We take homework very seriously at Wilder.

*Monday Folders – Parents can expect to have a folder sent home on the first day of each week from Mrs. Dingledine, Mrs. Bostick, and Mrs. Sukel.  These folders will contain your child’s current work/weekly newsletter and any important announcements.  You will be asked to sign your child’s folder each week.  Students in Mr. Amlin’s class will be assigned a classroom mailbox from which they will be expected to collect graded papers, forms to be signed, and notices about upcoming events.

*Assignment Books/Homework Folder – You should expect your child to bring home his/her assignment book with written assignments and a homework folder every day.

Please feel free to contact us at anytime throughout the year with any new information or concerns about your child.  Our goal is to communicate and be a partner in your child’s education.

HERITAGE FESTIVAL!

Be sure to visit the Heritage Ice Cream Parlor at the Piqua Heritage Festival over Labor Day Weekend.  This is one of the largest fundraisers for Wilder.  Buy an ice cream, root beer float, or cheesecake and support Wilder students.

Notable...

Wilder will again have the ice cream booth at the Piqua Heritage Festival over Labor Day weekend.  Many volunteers will be needed to make this event a success!  Please volunteer to help scoop ice cream for two hours or more by calling 773-2017.  Invite a few friends to join you.  It's a great time and helps to fund many of the special events, activities, and playground improvements at Wilder.
