City Schools Earn Award for Financial Reporting

Piqua City Schools' Treasurer Jeffrey W. Price received notification in late May that the district has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR), by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government entity and its management.
Price, as the individual primarily responsible for the preparation of the award-winning CAFR, is also awarded an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement for the 2007 report. The 2007 report is available at the district's Administrative Offices in print.
Each CAFR submitted to the GFOA is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to share the financial story and encourage users and user groups to read the CAFR. Piqua City Schools has earned the Certificate of Achievement from the GFOA every year since 1997.
